“The Real Cost: Alison” – Ads We Didn’t Skip

Ad: “The Real Cost: Alison,” U.S. Food and Drug Administration

Agency: Draftfcb (now FCB)

Why: The actress’s voice is instantly engaging (does she sound like Ginnifer Goodwin?) as she starts relating what sounds like typical high-school gossip directly to the camera. The payoff is subtle and effective, a simple tagline over a young woman smoking outside.

Will I buy what they’re selling?: I don’t smoke, but it seems this ad is a strong cautionary tale for the kids. Well done, FCB.

The other ads in the campaign are equally entertaining.
