Dissolve Ideas for Creators

From filmmaker to stock footage evangelist

George Georgeadis has always loved films, both watching and making them. As an 8-year-old, he shot a stop-motion short with his toys and then a horror with his friends, where they all got offed by a serial killer (played by his mother). He grew up to run two video production companies before joining Dissolve as the product manager. Now, in addition to shooting his own stuff, he works with our contributors, helping them build their own footage collections.

George recently talked to Jeremiah Karpowicz of Pro Video Coalition, discussing his journey from being a filmmaker who wanted nothing to do with stock footage to a stock footage evangelist. In this Q&A, he talks about planning ahead with equipment, striking that elusive commercial-creative balance, and how having a stock collection can be both creatively and financially rewarding.
