Ad: “Winter Warrior” for Nissan
Agency: TBWA, Toronto
Why: That big aerial of a desolate city under winter’s siege. The suspenseful music. They held the promise of great cinema. And this spot delivered, with a fierce pace and even fiercer snowmen. (See how VFX studio The Mill created — and killed — the snowmen army.)
Will I buy what they’re selling?: Probably not, but this ad has altered my feelings about the Rogue. Maybe it’s because the spot dredged up my deepest apocalypse/zombie phobias — “Winter needs a hero” is exactly what I needed to hear.
